    Hi everyone,
I have been more aware of metaphysical (I think) beings lately when I am and am NOT meditating. I think it would be what doctors call hallucinations.

I have been practicing meditation for a short period (about 3 years), mostly vipassana, some visualization, and am currently currently working on penetrating through the second group of the 32 body parts.
Lately, I have been focusing more and more about dhamma — I spent the last two days hearing dhamma talks, and cultivating metta, and skillful speech, and generosity, to best of my ability.

I have had these hallucinations before, and they used to bother me, a lot. Now, having them in my life is more pleasant/neutral. I see a figure who can fly, I see a few demons, and the mind likes to go into kaleidoscopic manifestations of objects. Pretty neat stuff. Sometimes scary, but usually pleasant and friendly. Things also seem to have a somewhat breathing texture.

I need some guidence in understanding if these are a) a sign of spiritual progress b) spiritual regress c) physical body problem

    metta,
    Ahmed

    Hi Ahmed,

I don’t know your situation well enough to comment or answer your final question a/b or c.

In terms of hallucinations and such things — these can arise in your meditation practice. These kinds of experiences can be nice at first, even interesting, but they have a danger to them as well.

Just stick to the meditation instructions. Don’t make too much of experiences that arise….

Continue with the main practice…; follow the instructions.

    Cheers,
    -Ivan/
