Hi Michael
I mean the self-report measure, not EEG, fMRI etc. it’s a kind of questionnaire where we answer the questions and try to estimate the quality of our meditation. For me it looks useful for 2 reasons:
1) when we try to estimate different aspects of meditation we pay closer attention to them, can compare them and it helps us to be more aware of them in future
2) using this system we could estimate our progress and weak points.
Sure this measures will be not precise and objective, but anyway I believe it could help
It feels similar like subtle dullness during stage 4-5 : the absence of thoughts, emotions and it is pleasant dullness ). It’s not experienced all the time, there could be lot’s of causes for that state (I found the lack of sleep, recovery from exercises, weather, bad mood…). So I feel it’s also something required to overcome like in meditation, but these are just my speculations…
Thank you Pablo. I’ll try to observe the end of the thoughts and see what happens. As for the gaps between breaths, I noticed that usually attention shifts to thoughts or other distractions during these gaps, so I try to sustain attention even on the subtle sensations between breaths and it helps me to feel more concentrated.
