Hi. I’ve been practicing for about 15 months, at least two hours a day using “The Mind Illuminated” as a guide. I think I’m somewhere in mid to late Stage 8. However, for the past couple of months I’ve been struggling with an issue that I hope someone can advise me on. I don’t feel as though I can make any substantial progress until I figure this out.

During my meditations and also while driving, reading or really just concentrating on anything, a strange pressure (energy?) is present in my sinus and mouth area. It can often be painful. Perhaps there is some sort of blockage? If I try to breath through it, it is difficult and feels almost as though I am breathing through a pillow causing me to feel the need to take deep breaths.

Any advice? Will this work it’s way out on it’s own or is there something specific I should be doing to clear the pressure?

    Hi Sue,

It sounds like you may have a blockage. I would recommend the following spinal breathing practice that is designed to smooth out the energy flow between the base of the spine and the third eye (between the eyebrows). I recommend starting with 5 minutes right before you meditate and work your way up slowly from there. It may take weeks or months to see much difference.

    Hope this helps,
