The Dharma Treasure Retreat Center at Cochise Stronghold is currently accepting personal retreat reservations for 2020. For more information, please visit our website. Or you can contact us at retreats@dharmatreasure.org or call 520-826-4141.
We’re also pleased to announce that Darlene Tataryn will be the resident teacher for February. Darlene is a Mind Illuminated teacher-in-training and has been a resident teacher here before. Her extensive expertise and training in psycho-therapeutic practices and embodied expressive arts provide her students the opportunity for a more direct and less tumultuous unfolding into equanimity, bliss, and beyond. Check out her website and videos to learn more.
January 15, 2020 at 1:44 pm #3712Hi! Would like a clarification. Are the Resident Teachers still currently currently studying under John Yates? Thanks
January 15, 2020 at 4:10 pm #3713Hello!
We are still in the process of defining the direction of the organization and, by extension, the retreat center. We will be working on expanding the pool of resident teachers to include those from other traditions and teaching backgrounds. That being said, TMI-trained teachers will continue to make up at least part of that pool for the foreseeable future.
When resident teachers are announced, we will provide information on their training and certification so that folks can see if they would be a good fit. We are also experimenting with allowing the option of individual retreatants to have remote meditation interviews with their own teacher while here.
Hope that helps!
January 16, 2020 at 9:13 pm #3714Not exactly though I do appreciate your answer.
What I am asking is if Darlene – your slated teacher in residence is studying currently with John Yates? The description makes it seem as if she is and I think it’s important that DT exercise complete transparency in this regard so that retreatants understand what we are working with when we arrive.
Thanks in advance for the clarification.
January 17, 2020 at 10:29 am #3715Ah, I see. Sorry that wasn’t clear. Yes, Darlene is currently still in Culadasa’s teacher training program, although she does not solely teach from a Mind Illuminated perspective.
As a policy, we’re not going to hold the misconduct of a teacher against their students. When invited here they will be assessed on their own merits and fitness to teach. We also feel it’s important that everyone who thinks about coming on retreat here has the information they need to make a decision that’s right for them. In our announcements regarding teachers in residence, we will be sure to include any completed certifications/authorizations they have received, or any training programs they are currently a part of. There may also be teachers who did study with Culadasa in the past but chose not to complete the program or pursue authorization. It will be up to those teachers whether or not they wish that information to be included in their bio.
Thanks for helping us clarify that!
